In the February Martha Stewart Living we highlight four Lambrusco wines in the Great Finds section, and as you can imagine, it was rather difficult to pare it down to just four. Because Lambrusco is an Italian sparkling wine defined by region rather than grape varietal, there are several styles that appeal to all different palates.
As luck would have it, I tasted what I find to be the perfect Lambrusco, Opera 02 Amabile 2009, AFTER the article went to print. It seemed just too cruel to keep this wine all to myself. So if you are fan of juicy, bubbly, slightly aggressive wines, then this one is for you. I know a few places in the NYC area that carry this wine—in particular Appelation Wine and Spirits—if you care to pick up a bottle or two. It might be the perfect way to start off your weekend!

As a new convert to the church of Lambrusco I am looking forward to trying both the Opera and the others mentioned in the forthcoming article. Thank you Charlotte!
